Surgery is often necessary to treat a hernia. During inguinal hernia surgery at our practice serving the San Diego area, the doctor pushes the protruding organ back into the abdominal cavity and repairs the hole in the abdominal wall. Fortunately, advanced technology has made it possible for today’s surgeons to treat hernias in a minimally invasive manner. Laparoscopic surgery eliminates the need for the long incision associated with traditional hernia surgery and is the favored surgical method among the patients of our La Jolla-based surgical practice.
The success of laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of inguinal, incisional, epigastric and umbilical hernias is dependent on the experience of the surgeon. At Olde Del Mar surgical we often perform these surgeries weekly in the out patient surgery environment, and have excellent outcomes. Our patients have less pain, fewer recurrences, and fewer complications when compared to the traditional method of performing these surgeries.
For patients who have large or complex recurrent abdominal wall hernias, we now offer the latest abdominal wall reconstruction techniues, known as COMPONENT SEPARATION. Be sure to enquire with Dr Bhoyrul to see whether or not you are a candidate for this operation
